I officially began working in education when I was an undergraduate student. During that time, I helped tutor classmates in various kinesiology, anatomy, human physiology, and exercise physiology courses. When I wasn't tutoring anatomy & physiology, I was heavily involved in my school's Outdoor Education department. I worked as a backpacking and backcountry ski guide during the academic year, and I spent my summers working as a backpacking guide around Southwest Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and Washington. These experiences, both in and out of the classroom, solidified my love of teaching and sharing my experience & knowledge with others, which led me to pursue a career in education.

After I completed my bachelor’s, I worked as a teaching assistant where I led various anatomy & physiology labs, held seminars on how to write a lab reports, and led study sessions before exams. In 2019, I began my PhD in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon to work towards my goal to teach at the college level. For four years, I was an anatomy lab instructor and worked in a very hands-on cadaver lab. I also served as the lead instructor for two physiology courses – one focused on the science of sex, and the other on learning medical terminology. Aside from serving as an instructor, of my favorite parts of being a PhD student was getting to mentor undergraduates in my research lab and guide them through their senior theses. I mentored multiple students through this process from start to finish, and working at a one-on-one level and seeing the personal and professional growth through the thesis process was incredibly rewarding!

After completing my PhD in the Fall of 2023, I decided that I wanted to create Anatomy & Physiology Educational Services, LLC so that I can help as many students struggling in their human biology courses as possible. Learning about the human body is more than just memorizing a bunch of structures and pathways - it takes creativity, perseverance, confidence, critical thinking, and a bunch of work. My goal is to push beyond memorization and create a generation of future scientists and healthcare professionals that love what they learn, recognize the fun and creativity in science, and truly understand how the human body functions.

Kick that imposter syndrome out the door, and come learn human biology the fun way!
